Welcome Back to A Magical School Year!
I hope you each had a wonderful summer. I also hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a Magical School year where we collectively commit to Maximize & Affirm Greatness In Children-while empowering them to #DREAM BIG! I am so delighted that you are part of our amazing Carver community. I welcome and value your positive energy and dedication to excellence in education, and I look forward to working with you and your children.
Each year brings positive change. This includes a few additions to our staff. We are delighted to welcome Victoria Chery, our new Guidance Counselor and Johanna Jimenez, our new Mental Health Coordinator. Both ladies bring a solid skill set and a gentle, sensitive approach to meeting children’s health, academic and emotional needs. We have also on boarded several veteran teachers to our Carver Dream Team: Mikala Fils-Aime is our new certified Media Specialist, 5th Grade Teacher of the Gifted: Adriana Perez, 4th Grade Teachers of the Gifted: Emily McKay and Rosemarie Krusz, and 4th Grade Teacher returning to Carver: Elisabeth Lembke. Please be sure to warmly welcome them.
A great deal of time, effort and thought has gone into the process of student placement for the 2022-2023 school year. Careful consideration was given and input from staff as well as student learning styles. Classrooms have been balanced academically and socially. Our class lists are structured to provide equitable class sizes at each grade level. Moving students is difficult without causing imbalances and inequities.Thank you so much for being positive with your child and helping him or her understand that it is impossible to place all students with a preferred best friend or teacher. ALL of our teachers work hard to make school a positive experience for ALL students. G W Carver Elementary is eagerly looking forward to enriching your child’s life. Thank you for understanding that it can take a few weeks for a child to acclimate to a new grade, peer group and teacher.
In closing, all signs point to another incredible and productive school year. Our skilled and devoted teaching team has a great year planned for our Carver scholars. Our enthusiastic office team is prepared to provide you with first class service with a smile. Our hard-working and conscientious custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning the facility. Our school safety team, to include 2 police officers that protects Carver ES and Carver Middle, has been thoroughly trained on district protocol to protect our campus. And, our much-appreciated PTA has hosted “Popsicles in the Park” to welcome new families, provided volunteer opportunities, and will be offering other exciting events and programs. We are indeed a joyous and caring community with the common goals of nurturing responsible, caring students and promoting high-level learning. Through the PTA, I have a personal goal of recruiting 100 Fathers or Father Figures to join the PTA within the first 30 days! We have an incredible group of fathers who go above and beyond to support our school! I want to make that support official. Carver Dads, will you join me in joining the PTA? Totally looking forward to your involvement.
Thank you to all who have helped to prepare for this Magical school year. Your commitment to ensuring that G W Carver Elementary remains a celebrated and successful school is awe-inspiring. It was a magical moment to greet students and families again. It remains an honor and privilege to serve as your principal. Please stop by and say hello. Together, I know we will make this school year one of growth, achievement and MAGIC for all children.
Dream Big,
Patricia D. Fairclough, Ed.S
