Dear Carver Family,
Welcome to a new school year at George Washington Carver Elementary
School! I hope your summer brought moments of rest and connection. As we open
our doors for another year of experiences, I want to take a moment to thank you for
being part of our school family. Thank you for choosing Carver and for making #MDCPSYourBestChoice. It is an absolute joy and honor to begin my ninth year as principal of this incredible school community!
This year, we are embracing the theme RISE (Reflect, Inspire, Soar, Elevate).
These four words will represent the heart of our work together. We will take time to
reflect on where we have been and where we are going. We will inspire one
another with kindness, creativity, and positive energy. We will soar as we stretch our
minds and hearts. And we will elevate every voice, every effort, and every dream
within our beautiful school community.
As principal, I believe that learning is more meaningful when it is connected to
the world around us. As a school that values international education, we guide our
students to understand different perspectives, appreciate cultures, and develop a
strong sense of citizenship. This year, my goal is for these lessons to live in our
classrooms and in the way we treat one another every day.
Our commitment to curiosity, innovation, and exploration will begin early. This
year, my plan is to launch the Indi iBot coding experience for our Prek-2nd grade
scholars! Through play and problem-solving, our youngest students will begin to
build a foundation in technology that encourages both critical thinking and
creativity. I’m so excited!
The strength of our school comes from the people who believe in it. You are an
important part of everything we do. Whether you are joining a school event,
supporting learning at home, or simply offering a kind word to a teacher, staff
member or administration, your presence makes a difference. Let’s be intentional
about how we show up in spaces and be sure to radiate the energy that creates
the conditions for all of us to RISE.
Welcome Back!
