Racial Equity Moderated Discussion with Dr Felecia Theune @ ZOOM

Felecia Theune, PhD is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of Miami and
a Research Analyst for UOnline. She earned a Ph.D. in Sociology with areas of concentration in
Race, Ethnicity and Immigration and Social Change and Well-being through Education from UM,
where she teaches courses on how race influences access to resources, opportunities, social
mobility and life outcomes. Dr. Theune recently facilitated a nine-week workshop on the origins
of race with 140 staff, administrators and coaches in the UM Department of Athletics,
moderated a graduate student open forum on racism and, in the aftermath of the Ahmaud
Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd deaths, moderated a student-athlete open dialogue
town hall. She maintains an active research agenda, publishes articles in peer-reviewed
scholarly journals, presents research at national conferences, and co-chairs the cultural
diversity committee at her church. Dr. Theune, her husband, Demetrius, and daughter, Sarah,
have called Miami home for 20 years.
